International Connections Academy, an accredited online private school for students in grades K-12, is making it easier for families moving or currently living abroad to transition their children to school anywhere in the world through its new online education resource for expat families.
International Connections Academy currently serves students in more than 40 countries across the globe – with the number of expat families it serves growing each semester. The school’s 2016 Parent Satisfaction Survey recently revealed that 80 percent of currently enrolled families living abroad moved for business purposes, with two-thirds planning on living in their new country for at least four years.

Did you know central Wisconsin is the ideal place to cultivate ginseng, an herb prized by Chinese and other Asian cultures for its health benefits? Neither did first-generation immigrant Paul Hsu. After he figured it out, he founded Hsu Ginseng Enterprises, which continually sets the standards for quality and purity as the global leader in the ginseng industry.
Meanwhile, Paul’s son, Will, grew up and went on to college. He earned his degree in finance at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Business with additional majors in Chinese language and East Asian studies. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE CONTEST® during the 2018 season. The contest, which started in 1988 with a handful of university engineering undergraduates, now includes divisions for elementary, middle, high school and college students with thousands of participants nationwide. Going back to its roots of creating breakfast machines, this year’s task for all divisions will be to “Pour a Bowl of Cereal.”

This February, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) is celebrating National Children’s Dental Health Month by hosting the Tournament of Tooth Care, showcasing how parents and caregivers can help their kids fend off the Mouth Monsters –a.k.a. tooth decay. And tooth decay isn’t just bad for oral health; children who develop tooth decay at a young age are at a greater risk for developing problems with oral and general health, as well as with educational and social development.

The Ad Council is launching its first crowdfunding effort leveraging the Tilt platform to raise the funds necessary to continue its national Bullying Prevention campaign. The program kicks off today and will run through mid-December with a goal of raising $100,000 to fund the production and distribution of new public service ads (PSAs). Centennial College's Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is a two-year program in which students spend the first eight months in school, eight months in co-op as a registered apprentice and a final eight months in school. As part of the in-school curriculum, students train on heavy duty equipment assemblies in fully-equipped heavy duty equipment labs.
Lupe Maldonado will tell you, “education is key.” That’s because it’s what helped her and her family create a brighter future. Their story started in a garage in Torrance, Calif., more than 20 years ago. That’s where they lived when they came to the U.S. No bathroom. No running water; a mattress on the bare floor. They covered up the holes to keep out the cold and the mice. While it may have been a bleak start, Lupe says just being in America was a dream come true.
While Ismael worked 12 hour days to support his family, Lupe joined a new program at her son’s elementary school called the Toyota Family Literacy Program in order to learn English. It was a tough decision, going to school instead of getting a job that could provide the money needed to move out of that garage; but Ismael and Lupe knew if she could learn English, she could advocate for their boys with teachers, doctors and in the community. Ismael also enrolled in English classes.
