Today, Novo Nordisk announced a three-year extension of its Changing Diabetes® in Children programme. Since 2009, free insulin and access to diabetes care have been provided to more than 13,000 children in nine countries in Africa and South-East Asia. During the five years, 108 diabetes clinics have been established and 5,479 healthcare professionals have received diabetes care training.

Connections Academy, a leading provider of online K-12 schools, released results today from its annual parent satisfaction survey measuring families’ satisfaction with their Connections Academy virtual school experience. The survey also reveals reasons why families are choosing Connections Academy for their children. In the 2015-16 school year, 30 Connections Academy-supported schools in 26 states served students with a top-tier, personalized education.
Now in its 14th year, the third-party Connections Academy Parent Satisfaction Survey provides valuable feedback to help tailor and improve the online school program. Thirty-six percent of enrolled families participated in the survey.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the percentage of construction industry deaths from falls has continued to rise, and currently stands at 38.8%. This means that out of 937 total deaths in the construction industry, 364 of them were caused by a fall. Today on World Oral Health Day, FDI World Dental Federation is myth busting what people around the world believe to be good oral health practices, encouraging them to become better informed and take action. Oral health is integral to our general health and well-being; impacting every aspect of our lives.
The results from a survey carried out in 12 countries, by YouGov on behalf of FDI, exposed a significant gap between what people believe to be good oral health practices, versus what they actually do. Eight of the countries reported that 50 percent or more of the people surveyed think it is important to brush your teeth straight after every main meal. Brazil, Mexico, Egypt and Poland were the worst offenders of this incorrect oral health practice (84%, 81%, 62% and 60% respectively). FDI recommends waiting at least 30 minutes after eating to brush your teeth to avoid weakening tooth enamel.

“Approximately 80 percent of surveyed nonprofits say they plan to grow in the next 12 to 18 months,” said Dan Murphy, senior manager of fund accounting strategy for Abila, and study co-author. “However, oftentimes, with growth comes increased complexity. For example, managing risk, maintaining compliance, and retaining an organization’s unique culture becomes more challenging as organizations adopt a wide variety of growth strategies. Those nonprofits that understand and plan for growth now and in the near future will be primed for success.”
