Taking center stage at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show are more than 20 vehicles that made their world debut during the Media Preview including the Kia Niro, Ram Power Wagon, Nissan Armada, Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, Chevrolet Trax, Hyundai Santa Fe and Infiniti Q50 among others. More than a dozen concept cars are also on parade, including the Acura Precision, Buick Avista, Genesis Vision G, Kia Telluride and Nissan Murano Winter Warrior.
This year marks the 108th edition of the Chicago Auto Show. First staged in 1901, the Chicago Auto Show is the largest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. The show runs from Feb. 13-21 and opens at 9 a.m. each day. There are nearly 1,000 different vehicles on display throughout the more than 1 million sq. ft. of McCormick Place.

The latest booster seat ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety show that child seat manufacturers have mastered something that once eluded them: building a seat that provides good safety belt fit for the typical 4-¬ to 8-¬year-¬old passenger.
Out of 53 new models evaluated, 48 earn the top rating of BEST BET, meaning they are likely to provide good belt fit for a 4 to 8 year-¬old in almost any car, minivan or SUV. When the Institute first began rating boosters in 2008, only a quarter of the seats evaluated earned the BEST BET designation.
New research from Carfax suggests that millions of people may be driving, buying, or selling potentially dangerous cars due to an unfixed recall. The company’s annual research on the issue shows more than 46 million cars nationwide have at least one safety recall that’s never been fixed. In fact, five million of them were bought and sold by potentially unsuspecting consumers in 2014.
One of the most alarming discoveries is that people driving or buying family-oriented vehicles – specifically minivans and SUVs – are most at risk. One in three minivans and one in five SUVs has an unfixed recall, according to Carfax.

Epson America, Inc., a leading provider of superior performing printing solutions, today announced its newest additions to the Supertank line of cartridge-free EcoTank® printers, including three new Expression® EcoTank home models and two new WorkForce® EcoTank printers for the small medium business market. Additionally, Epson introduced two new printers to its EcoTank portfolio – Expression Premium – which offer a five-color ink system for improved photo and document print quality. All seven models offer a new industrial design featuring integrated ink tanks with uniquely keyed auto-stop ink bottles for easy filling of each color.
The integrated ink tanks are positioned in the front of each EcoTank printer rather than on the side for a simpler user experience and improved design, delivering cartridge-free printing with easy-to-fill, supersized ink tanks. The new auto-stop ink bottles feature a unique spout and inlet design for each color to prevent misfiling, and stops automatically when the tank is full. The EcoTank printers include up to two years of ink in the box1, equivalent to about 30 ink cartridge sets2.
“Supertank Printers revolutionized the printing experience when we first introduced the concept two years ago,” said Nils Madden, marketing director, Consumer Marketing, Epson America. “We have taken customer feedback into account and improved the hardware design, and added new features such as the uniquely keyed auto-stop ink bottles and the option for borderless printing to our new EcoTank printers. Wo ließe sich da ein Fahrzeug wie der offene Beetle besser vorstellen als auf der L.A. Auto Show? Bereits das Käfer Cabrio genießt ganz besonders in Kalifornien Legenden-Charakter. Entsprechend heiß erwartet wurde auch der Nachfolger dieser Ikone. Und die Fans des Beetle Cabrios werden nicht enttäuscht: Charme und Stil des Inbegriffs von Lebensfreude sind erhalten geblieben, und technisch ist das neue Cabrio up to date!
Mit dem neuen Variant, der ab Mitte August bei den Händlern steht, haben die Golf-Anhänger noch mehr die Qual der Wahl, für welche Variante des Bestsellers sie sich entscheiden sollen. Denn die Kombi-Version ist kein bloßes Anhängsel des Schrägheck-Modells mit angesetztem „Rucksack“, sondern weist ein eigenständiges Profil auf. Und bietet zu einem Mehrpreis von 1.775 Euro erheblich mehr Stauvolumen – in der Standard-Konfiguration mit 605 Litern immerhin 225 Liter mehr. Wer sich sicher ist, dass das Auto stets nur mit maximal zwei Personen besetzt ist und weder längere Urlaubsreisen noch ständig größere Einkäufe bei einem Baumarkt anfallen, dürfte sich die Mehrkosten sparen. Doch schon bei einer vierköpfigen Familie könnte der Variant eine Überlegung wert sein, zumal der Kombi sich weitaus stärker als das Schrägheck-Modell von seinem Vorgänger unterscheidet. Er ist mit 4,56 Metern nicht nur um 30 Zentimeter länger als der Basis-Golf, sondern auch gegenüber dem Vorgänger länger, breiter und niedriger geworden und wirkt schon aufgrund dieser „schärferen“ Proportionen sportlicher und markanter. In dieses Bild passt das neue Design. Perfektion im Detail spiegeln dabei markante Elemente wie die D-Säulen wider. Den Designern ist es hier gelungen, die wie die Sehne eines Bogens mit eingesetztem Pfeil gespannte Form der für den Golf so typischen C-Säulen auf die D-Säulen des Variant zu übertragen. Bis zum Abschluss der vorderen Türen folgt der Variant zwar der präzisen Linienführung des Golf Schrägheckmodells. Ab den B-Säulen entwickelt sich dann allerdings der eigenständigste und auch optisch dynamischste Golf Variant seit Bestehen der Baureihe.
