Volkswagen lädt das Modellspektrum mit einem neuen extrem effizienten Elektrofahrzeug auf: dem neuen e-up!. Das Elektroauto debütiert auf der Internationalen Automobil-Ausstellung (IAA) in Frankfurt und steht bereits ab Oktober bei den VW-Händlern. Der Grundpreis einschließlich Batterie beträgt 26.900 Euro. Die Wolfsburger hoffen, dass ihr erster Stromer vielleicht nicht auf Anhieb, aber doch nach weiteren Verbesserrungen in der Lade-Infrastruktur zum ersten „Volks-Elektroauto“ wird. Mit dem e-up! startet ein Elektrofahrzeug der neuesten Generation, das dank innovativer Detaillösungen besonders sparsam mit der eingesetzten Energie umgeht. So verbraucht der e-up! lediglich 11,7 kWh/100 km. Bei einem durchschnittlichen Strompreis von 25,8 Cent (Deutschland, 2013) kosten 100 Kilometer Fahrt nur noch 3,02 Euro. Die wegweisende Effizienz des e-up! ist auf den für ein Auto dieser Größe sehr guten cw-Wert von 0,308, einen optimierten Rollwiderstand, die generell sparsamen Antriebskomponenten, das hochwirksame Rekuperationssystem und innovative Ausstattungsmodule wie eine besonders sparsam arbeitende Klimaautomatik zurückzuführen.

Sollte die Rechnung der Mercedes-Gestalter aus dem kalifornischen Designstudie aufgehen und die Freizeit künftig gerade von Städtern und ihrem Auto zunehmend im Gelände verbracht werden, müssen sich auch die Gesetzeshüter entsprechend rüsten. Mit dem Ener-G-Force haben die Kreativen eine beeindruckende Lösung auf die Räder gestellt. Martialisch im Aussehen, ausgesprochen robust in der Auslegung und technisch hochgerüstet, schützt der Mercedes Ener-G-Force die Beamten und bringt sie sicher auch über ungewöhnliches Terrain. Ist der Ener-G-Force heute noch lediglich ein Showcar, könnte er einem echten Serienfahrzeug hilfreich Modell stehen.
Mit dem Golf GTI fing vor mehr als 30 Jahren alles an. Beim diesjährigen GTI-Treffen am Wörthersee gab es einen Ausblick in die Zukunft, wie der Ur-Vater aller sportlichen Kompakten vielleicht einmal aussehen könnte. Von echten Rennautos haben sich die Designer und Ingenieure inspirieren lassen. Heraus gekommen ist ein GTI, der schon im Stand kein Hehl daraus macht, was seine Bestimmung ist. In 3,9 Sekunden ist Tempo 100 erreicht, seine Höchstgeschwindigkeit liegt bei über 300 km/h. Möglich macht das ein Bi-Turbo V6 mit 503 PS. Auch VW Nutzfahrzeuge hat ein entsprechendes Showcar für das GTI-Treffen auf 22 Zoll-Räder gestellt. Die Basis bildet der Amarok. Passend zum bulligen Outfit arbeitet unter der Haube ein V6 TDI mit 3-Liter Hubraum und erzeugt satte 200 kW (272 PS). Der Hingucker bei den Fans war natürlich der Polo R mit dem VW erfolgreich in der Rallye-Weltmeisterschaft unterwegs ist. Für die meisten Besucher wohl die einzige Chance dem erfolgreichen Rallyeauto einmal zum Greifen nah zu sein. Die VW-Azubis haben wie in jedem Jahr auch ihre automobilen Träume Wirklichkeit werden lassen. Mit Projekten wie dem Golf GTI Cabriolet Austria bietet Volkswagen seinen besten Auszubildenden die Möglichkeit, ihr Fachwissen zu erweitern.
