History was made today in Mississippi, as two Magnolia State resorts, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi and Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, held simultaneous events to usher in the era of legal sports wagering.
The resorts, part of the MGM Resorts International portfolio (NYSE: MGM), both accepted their first sports wagers at 12:00 p.m. CT and now share in the distinction of taking the first sports wagers in Mississippi under newly created state regulations permitting licensed casino operators to establish legal sports books.

Country superstar Darius Rucker helped the resort usher in a new look and name as he played to a crowd of 17,000 as the inaugural headlining act for The Great Lawn, Harrah’s new waterfront entertainment space. Fireworks lit the night sky to kick-off the summer season and celebrate the completion of a months-long renovation to the resort, formerly known as The Grand Biloxi, which includes an upgraded, more open casino floor, new restaurants and enhanced pool experience.

Comedic daredevil and circus star Bello Nock dangled upside from a helicopter more than 400 feet above Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi today, without a safety net or tether, as he performed a trapeze act to kick off Beau Rivage’s new summer show FUNAMBULA, opening in the Beau Rivage Theatre June 11.
