This year, Beneful dog food is celebrating the fifth year of its Dream Dog Park program by supporting dog park projects across the U.S. ranging in size from Chihuahua to Great Dane proportions. Kicking off in June and throughout 2015, the Beneful team is supporting crowdfunding campaigns and working with community leaders and fundraising groups to help bring new dog parks to life or improve existing ones through a combination of financial support, hands-on volunteerism and shared dog park expertise.
“At Beneful, we know dogs and owners share a special bond, and there’s a special place in their hearts for their local dog parks. We’ve experienced it ourselves with our dogs, and we’ve seen it firsthand through our Dream Dog Park program,” said Brent Gleckler, Beneful brand director. “This year, we’re excited for the program to take a new shape with the Dream Dog Park Project, allowing us to reach even more dog-loving communities across the country.”

A vastly changing landscape would certainly capture one’s attention. The nation’s trees face an immediate threat from the Asian longhorned beetle (ALB), a devastating invasive pest with no natural predators. With up to 70 percent of the U.S. tree canopy at risk of being lost to this pest, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is spreading the word about the beetle this summer with a series of TV, radio and print public service announcements (PSAs).
The adult Asian longhorned beetle (ALB) is active throughout the summer months and into the fall. This invasive pest was first discovered in the U.S. in 1996, likely arriving here unknowingly inside wood packing material from Asia. The insect threatens recreational areas, forests, and suburban and urban shade trees. The beetle attacks 12 genera of trees, including birch, maple and elm. It is truly a landscape-altering invasive pest. And all states are at risk.

17.6 billion. That’s how many times U.S. shoppers visited brick-and-mortar stores during the 2013 holiday shopping season. That’s a lot of purchases – and a lot of receipts changing hands. Holiday sales are expected to rise 4.1 percent this November and December, meaning even more shoppers will be visiting stores and receiving gift receipts.
Just in time for the 2014 holiday shopping rush, a new receipt paper from Appvion, Inc., made with vitamin C instead of phenols like bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol S (BPS), is available to stores nationwide. Now shoppers can focus on finding that perfect gift instead of worrying about phenols in receipts they might receive.
