Discovery Familia anunció hoy que se unirá a una segunda e importante etapa de “El Desafío del Presidente”, programa del Consejo Presidencial en Entrenamiento Físico, Deportes y Nutrición” (PCFSN). El reto continúa en el 2012 con “PALA+ Challenge”, una iniciativa que no sólo promueve la importancia de incorporar actividad física a la rutina diaria, sino también la de mejorar los hábitos alimenticios. Una iniciativa pionera en comunicación social de la Fundación Anesvad, que busca que las poblaciones vulnerables con las que trabajamos cuenten su realidad, en primera persona, a través de grabaciones hechas con el teléfono móvil. El Proyecto Habla es un ejercicio documental y participativo, un dinamizador social que persigue concienciar y sensibilizar sobre los problemas de los países del Sur y su lucha por el acceso a la salud. También quiere generar una corriente crítica que contribuya a revertir las situaciones de desigualdad e injusticia social que se producen en el mundo y que impiden el acceso a los derechos básicos.

Poor children in the Dominican Republic will now have a chance at a better life through Children International, a U.S.-based humanitarian organization, thanks to businessman Larry Phelan.
The Philadelphia attorney funded the newly inaugurated signature community center that will serve 5,000 children in the slum of La Caleta near Santo Domingo. The center will provide children access to medical and dental care, education support, and nutritional programs.
Mr. Phelan was inspired to work with Children International by his friend Dan Phelan, who funded another center in the Dominican Republic. Much like Dan’s facility, the Larry T. Phelan Community Center is state-of-the-art, with a medical clinic, dental clinic, pharmacy, library, playground, computer lab and a sports complex.
