Mit dem seit viel Jahren genutzten und vor allem auch in die Tat umgesetzten Slogan „Simply Clever-Lösungen“ und natürlich auch mit den neuen, absolut wettbewerbsfähigen Modellen schaffte es die VW-Tochter, nicht nur von Verkaufserfolg zu Verkaufserfolg zu eilen, sondern sich auch allmählich einen Namen bei einer qualitätsbewussten Klientel zu machen. Lediglich in puncto Sportlichkeit – trotz großer Motorsport-Erfolge in der Vergangenheit - schien ein Skoda unverdächtig. Doch inzwischen stellen die Skoda-Verantwortlichen der kühlen Kosten-Kalkulation eine wohl-kalkulierte Leidenschaft in Form eines Octavia RS zur Seite. Das erste Modell (2000 bis 2005) tat sich noch schwer, doch bereits die zweite Generation wurde sowohl als Limousine als auch Kombi ein Erfolg, den nun die dritte Auflage des Octavia RS fortsetzen und möglichst ausbauen soll.

The pace of economic growth has slowed significantly since the start of 2011 and the slowdown is expected to continue into the start of 2012, according to a survey of CEOs of small-to-medium-sized businesses. The Vistage CEO Confidence Index was 92.9 in the Q2 2011 survey, substantially below the 105.2 posted in Q1, and erasing all the gains recorded since 93.7 was registered in Q1 2010. Though declines were present in every major survey component, the largest losses were in evaluations of the overall economy. Rather than expecting a renewed economic downturn, the majority of CEOs anticipated a stagnating economy: growth too slow to support robust gains in employment or investment, and resulting in lower revenue and profit levels than previously forecast. Half of all firms put planned investments on hold due to the slowdown in economic growth.

Consumers seeking locally sourced products can easily find one in an everyday pantry staple – vegetable oil, which is primarily 100 percent soybean oil made from soybeans grown in the U.S. Sales of vegetable oil support more than 550,000 U.S. soybean farmers who strive to leave the land in better shape than they found it for America’s next generation of farmers. “I work hard to help produce an ingredient that I am proud to serve to my own family, as well as families across the U.S.,” said United Soybean Board (USB) Chairman Bob Haselwood. “Every time you purchase vegetable oil, or soybean oil, you’re supporting local farmers.” Haselwood produces soybeans on his farm in Berryton, Kansas. Many retailers sell soybean oil primarily produced with U.S.-grown soybeans. This past summer, USB partnered with a large Midwest grocery retail chain with 200+ stores to emphasize the importance of knowing where food comes from and educate about the benefits of soybean oil. During this promotion, unit sales of the store brand vegetable oil rose more than 27 percent over the same time last year, and shoppers commented that they were more likely to purchase soybean oil knowing it’s a U.S.-grown product.
