In 2011 we started out as a non-profit organization in Shreveport, Louisiana. We’ve since begun dedicating ourselves to helping those in the Memphis, Tennessee, area with job preparation training and utility payment assistance. We operate a youth development program that collects school uniforms, coats and supplies for children who are in need – and that’s only the beginning. We also offer Bible study for those who desire to be nourished by the everlasting Word.
You see, we believe that our services all go hand-in-hand. When you know, understand and follow God’s Word, you’ll see opportunities that were previously invisible to your eyes. You’ll find your calling in life. You’ll be able to successfully support your household. And your children will know that there’s always hope in God’s hands. It starts with one simple step, and we’re aiming to be that catalyst for change.
Would You Like to be One of God’s Helping Hands?
We’re always in need of donations of time and financial resources. Contact us at (901) 235-3463, or email contactus@wearethehandsofgod.org to see how you can help.

Just in time for the busiest travel season of the year, State Farm has released its annual research report on distracted driving, with troubling results. Though texting while driving remains a concern on the nation’s highways, people are also webbing while driving with increasing frequency. These behaviors may pose equal or greater concerns in the effort to reduce distracted driving.
The July 2012 survey of nearly 1000 motorists shines a light on a growing safety concern: people accessing the internet while driving. Four years of data show a significant increase in the use of mobile web services while driving.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau, the Insurance Information Institute and the National Consumers League have joined together to alert victims of Sandy to the potential for fraud by unscrupulous contractors. A 30-second public service announcement urges Sandy victims to be alert to potential fraud schemes by contractors who are only looking to take their money while doing shoddy repairs or no repairs at all. Victims are advised to avoid pressure tactics and contractors going door to door. “If you didn’t request it, reject it.” People who suspect that they’re being scammed can call 1-800-TEL-NICB to report it.

Rough, dry skin may seem like a constant battle for some, especially as cold weather creeps in. When it comes to defeating dryness, leading New York Cosmetic Dermatologist, Dr. Doris Day, recommends following three cardinal rules: cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize. Using a mild cleanser helps rid skin of daily dirt buildup without stripping it of its essential oils. Once skin is clean and dry, applying a moisturizer with 12% lactic acid, like AmLactin® Moisturizing Body Lotion, aids in skin’s natural renewal process, exfoliating dead skin cells while simultaneously locking in moisture to the new cells underneath.
