Lord & Taylor unveiled its 75th annual holiday windows on November 13th, 2012 with performances along Fifth Avenue by Megan Hilty, star of NBC’s Smash, and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City.
This year’s holiday windows mark the 75th year of smiles, laughter, joy, and magic; celebrating the precious, worldwide tradition of spending holidays with those you love. Sharing the story of Santa Claus on his day off, traveling around the world to discover global holiday traditions, the windows are inspired by picturesque locations during the holidays and the customs celebrated among friends and family worldwide.

In the wake of recent tragedy, the Newtown community came together to show the nation the true meaning of “Newtown strong.” It was inspiring to see such overwhelming support for a small, quiet town in the face of such extreme adversity.
The Strides for Sandy Hook 5k memorial run/walk was created as a way for local residents to continue the healing process. The 5k took place on Saturday, January 19, 2013. The unofficial community run honored the lives of victims lost in the December 14, 2012 tragedy. While there was a suggested donation of $25 for participants, any amount was accepted—no matter how big or small. Strides for Sandy Hook attracted nearly 200 walkers and runners and raised over $3,600 on January 19 alone. All donations and proceeds were given towards a memorial fund established by Newtown Parks and Recreation, the Newtown Park Gift Fund.

El Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr., presidente del United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) y uno de los dos únicos latinos en la historia en recibir una Medalla Presidencial, dio el discurso principal para los graduados hispanos, ante una audiencia de beneficiarios de la Beca Nacional HACER de la organización Ronald McDonald House Charities de los años 2008-2012, familiares, representantes de la comunidad y ejecutivos de McDonald’s y de RMHC.

Fifteen of 17 booster seats introduced in 2012 earn the top rating of BEST BET from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, evidence that more than ever, manufacturers are designing seats to provide good safety belt fit for booster-age children.
The improvements mean that BEST BET boosters now outnumber seats in any of the three other categories for the first time since the Institute released its inaugural booster ratings in 2008. Boosters are supposed to improve how adult lap and shoulder belts fit children so the belts can properly restrain them in crashes. BEST BET boosters correctly position belts on a typical 4-to-8-year-old child in almost any car, minivan or SUV.
