Denn angesichts der wahren Neuheitenflut war eine Auswahl unumgänglich. Nun, man entschied sich für eine gesunde Mischung und fand damit bei den über 1.200 geladenen Gästen großen Anklang. Die dritte Generation des Audi TT, der Huracan als Nachfolger des Lamborghini Gallardo, der „Rembrandt Bugatti“ als weitere Sonderedition des Veyron 16,4 Grand Sport Vitesse, der Continental GT Speed als schnellster Bentley aller Zeiten sowie der Seat Leon Cupra zeigten das Hier und Jetzt. Die Skoda-Designstudie „VisionC“ und das sechssitzige Konzeptfahrzeug „Clipper“ von Giugiaro dagegen unterschiedliche Ansätze, wie die automobile Zukunft aussehen könnte. Für den Spagat zwischen Konzeptfahrzeug und Serie zuständig aren der T-ROC, mit dem Volkswagen zwischen Tiguan und Touareg eine neue SUV-Baureihe etablieren wird und die Alltrack-Studie für den VW Multivan, der schon sehr bald auf unseren Straßen zu sehen sein dürfte. Ein vielfältigeres Angebot kann derzeit kein anderer Autokonzern bieten.
The German Federal Foreign Office (FFO), the Goethe-Institut, and the Federation of German Industry (BDI), announce the launch of WanderbUS, an immersive traveling exhibit bringing German culture to 48 states over five months. Launching March 5th in Washington, D.C., the WanderbUS will hit the road to visit high schools and universities in every state within the continental US. Staffed with a team of educational professionals, the tour will feature presentations, games and virtual reality tours of German landmarks including Hamburg, Nuernberg and Frankfurt. Le compte à rebours a commencé ! Lundi prochain, la Fondation L’Oréal, avec le soutien de L’Oréal France, la Commission française pour l’UNESCO et l’Académie des Sciences, récompensera 25 jeunes femmes scientifiques doctorantes. Elles ont été sélectionnées par un Jury présidé par Philippe Taquet, Président de l’Académie des sciences et composé de membres émérites de la communauté scientifique. Chacune d’entre elles a été distinguée pour la qualité et le fort potentiel de ses travaux de recherche. A l’occasion de la cérémonie de remise des Bourses L’Oréal France-UNESCO, ces jeunes femmes (26 ans en moyenne) recevront ainsi une bourse de 15 000 euros pour les soutenir dans leurs travaux et leur carrière scientifique, domaine où les femmes sont encore sous-représentées.

Am Rande der New York International Auto Show stellt Volkswagen of America den Rallycross-Beetle mit Allradantrieb vor, dessen TSI-Motor mehr als 560 PS (412 kW) leistet. Volkswagen of America hat sich für dieses Projekt mit dem US-Rennsport-Spezialisten Andretti Autosport zum Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross Team zusammengeschlossen, das zwei Global Rallycross (GRC) Fahrzeuge für die Rennfahrer Tanner Foust und Scott Speed stellt. Das Team startet die Saison zunächst mit zwei modifizierten Polos auf der Bodengruppe des 2013 World Rally Championship-Siegerautos. Im Sommer erfolgt dann der Wechsel auf den GRC Beetle, wie er in New York präsentiert wird. Mit diesem allradgetriebenen Rallycross Beetle stellt Volkswagen in den USA gleichzeitig das leistungsstärkste Modell der Baureihe vor: Der TSI-Motor leistet durch Aufladung und Direkteinspritzung mehr als 560 PS. Rallycross gehört zu den Motorsport-Disziplinen in Amerika, deren Fangemeinde am rasantesten wächst - sowohl in Besucherzahlen als auch in Bezug auf TV-Einschaltquoten. Die anspruchsvollen Rundkurse bestehen teils aus Staubpisten, teils aus Asphalt und bieten den Zuschauern durch Niveauunterschiede mitunter spektakuläre Sprünge der Wettbewerbsfahrzeuge von über 20 Meter Länge.
