Allied Universal, a leading facility services company and the largest security force in North America, together with John Jay College and the Metropolitan Healthcare Security Directors Association (MHSDA), will host a “Plan to Live” seminar to educate healthcare providers on best practices to handle an active shooter situation and other threats. The free seminar will be held Tues., May 16, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the college’s Moot Court at 899 10th Avenue, New York City. “Active shooters are not the only risks that healthcare facilities face,” said Kevin Francis, Business Development Specialist, Allied Universal. “Healthcare facilities may encounter aggressive assailants, bomb threats, and terrorist attacks. The Albuquerque, N.M. metropolitan statistical area (MSA) had the highest per capita auto theft rate in 2016 according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau’s (NICB) latest Hot Spots report. Hot Spots examines vehicle theft data obtained from the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) for each of the nation’s MSAs. MSAs are designated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and often include areas much larger than the cities for which they are named. For example, this year’s number one spot, the Albuquerque, N.M. MSA, includes all thefts within the entire county of Bernalillo, not just the city of Albuquerque.
