Snacks, the proverbial middle child of the food world, are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Last night, TV host Andy Cohen, a foodie in his own right, joined fellow food aficionados to launch Snack Week, a week-long celebration of snacking and the launch pad for the new Hillshire® Snacking brand of premium snacks.
Snack Week kicked off with a VIP launch event, co-hosted by Cohen and other culinary experts, including Chef Dale Talde of “Talde” restaurants, New York mixologist Julie Reiner and two top food bloggers. The event united the experts to help launch the Hillshire® Snacking brand and highlighted curated pairings and snack ideas using the products, all coming to life in a series of videos to be released during Snack Week.
“Being a foodie and living in a city with an amazing food culture has elevated my snacking game,” said Cohen. “I’ve spent enough time around food and the culinary world to know when I spot a trend. The Hillshire® Snacking brand is a game-changer,” Cohen said.

The winners of the Natural Light - International Design Competition have now been chosen from the 172 impressive Natural Light Lamp designs submitted from 65 countries around the world. The winners are two very talented Argentinian Industrial Design students, Ms. Mariana Arando and Mr. Luca Fondello, both from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The production phase of the winning design for the Natural Light Lamp will begin shortly, followed next year by shipment of the lamps to three African countries without access to electricity.
Last year, the VELUX Group and Little Sun joined forces to launch the Natural Light – International Design Competition, which challenged design students around the world to create a design for a solar lamp which would help to bring clean, reliable, affordable light to some of the 1.2 billion people worldwide living without electricity. Now the jury has voted and decided on the winning solar lamp design by two Industrial Design students from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Ahead of World Mental Health Day, today sees the publication of the Mental Health Integration Index, a new research initiative commissioned by the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson and undertaken by the Economist Intelligence Unit.1 The research explores the challenges of integrating Europeans with mental illness into society and employment, within the European Union’s 28 Member States, plus Norway and Switzerland. Countries have been ranked according to their degree of commitment to support those living with mental illness; the findings demonstrate that while there are many examples of good practice across Europe, the whole region has a long way to go before people with mental illness are adequately supported and truly integrated into their communities.

Um die Wahl des passenden Wohnmobils zu erleichtern hat der ADAC fünf Modelle getestet. Nachgestellt wurde eine Urlaubsfahrt mit voll beladenen Wohnmobilen der Hersteller Frankia, Adria, Sun Living und Hymer (Gewichtsklasse von 3,3 bis 4,2 Tonnen), mit und ohne ESP. Ergebnis: Beim Ausweichtest könnten ungeübte Fahrer ohne ESP Probleme durch die Schleuderneigung und das Pendeln bekommen. Hier empfiehlt der ADAC die Modelle von Frankia und Hymer (mit ESP), die im ADAC Test das Urteil „gut“ erhielten. Der Adria (mit ESP), der Frankia und der Sun Living (beide ohne ESP) schnitten mit „befriedigend“ ab, der Hymer (gefahren ohne ESP) erreicht ein „ausreichend“. ESP ist zwar kein Wundermittel, das alle Fahrfehler ausbügelt, aber das Regelsystem hilft dem ungeübten Gelegenheitsfahrer in gefährlichen Situationen Unfälle zu vermeiden. Ab dem 1. November 2014 ist übrigens die Ausstattung aller Neufahrzeuge mit ESP vorgeschrieben.
