Denn angesichts der wahren Neuheitenflut war eine Auswahl unumgänglich. Nun, man entschied sich für eine gesunde Mischung und fand damit bei den über 1.200 geladenen Gästen großen Anklang. Die dritte Generation des Audi TT, der Huracan als Nachfolger des Lamborghini Gallardo, der „Rembrandt Bugatti“ als weitere Sonderedition des Veyron 16,4 Grand Sport Vitesse, der Continental GT Speed als schnellster Bentley aller Zeiten sowie der Seat Leon Cupra zeigten das Hier und Jetzt. Die Skoda-Designstudie „VisionC“ und das sechssitzige Konzeptfahrzeug „Clipper“ von Giugiaro dagegen unterschiedliche Ansätze, wie die automobile Zukunft aussehen könnte. Für den Spagat zwischen Konzeptfahrzeug und Serie zuständig aren der T-ROC, mit dem Volkswagen zwischen Tiguan und Touareg eine neue SUV-Baureihe etablieren wird und die Alltrack-Studie für den VW Multivan, der schon sehr bald auf unseren Straßen zu sehen sein dürfte. Ein vielfältigeres Angebot kann derzeit kein anderer Autokonzern bieten.
In a new round of evaluations, 5 of 7 small SUVs earn good ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for occupant protection in a passenger-side small overlap front crash.
The ratings bring to 16 the number of small SUVs the Institute has evaluated in the passenger-side small overlap front test, which was introduced in 2017 to encourage manufacturers to offer the same level of protection for front-seat passengers as drivers in this type of crash.
The BMW X1; Chevrolet Equinox and its twin, the GMC Terrain; Jeep Compass and Mitsubishi Outlander earn good ratings in the passenger-side small overlap front test. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport earns a marginal rating, and the Ford Escape earns poor. For the 2018 model year, the Equinox shed weight to join the small SUV size class. Earlier models were classified as midsize.
None of the newly rated 2018 models earns better than acceptable marks for structure. (The Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-5 are the only small SUVs evaluated so far to earn good ratings for structure in the passenger-side small overlap front test.) The Outlander Sport is marginal, and the Escape is rated poor. Both the Outlander Sport and Escape allowed too much intrusion into the occupant compartment on the right side.

Parking crashes usually don’t result in serious injuries, but repair costs can quickly mount, along with the hassle of going without the family vehicle while waiting for the body shop to finish work. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has launched a rear crash prevention ratings program to help consumers identify models with the technology that can prevent or mitigate low-speed backing crashes. Two systems earn the highest rating of superior, and four earn the second-highest rating of advanced.
Rear crash prevention encompasses several technologies. Parking sensors issue warning beeps and/or seat vibrations when the equipped vehicle gets too close to another vehicle or object directly behind it, or, in some cases, in front of it. Rear cross-traffic alert warns drivers of approaching vehicles that might cross their path as they back up. Rear automatic emergency braking systems detect objects behind a reversing vehicle and may automatically brake if the driver doesn’t heed alerts to stop.
IIHS engineers evaluated rear autobrake systems on six popular 2017 model vehicles — the BMW 5 series sedan, Cadillac XT5 SUV, Infiniti QX60 SUV, Jeep Cherokee SUV, Subaru Outback wagon and Toyota Prius hatchback.
Under the three-tier rating scheme, models with optional or standard rear crash prevention systems are rated superior, advanced or basic. Ratings are determined by whether the vehicles have available rear autobrake and, if so, how it performs in a series of car-to-car and car-to-pole tests with different approach angles. The availability of parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert also is factored in.
The Outback and XT5 earn a superior rating when equipped with optional rear autobrake, parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert. The Cherokee, 5 series, QX60 and Prius earn an advanced rating with this optional gear.

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, today revealed the long-awaited new XC60 premium SUV at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new car replaces Volvo’s highly-successful original XC60, which in the nine years since its launch became the bestselling premium mid-sized SUV in Europe with nearly a million units sold globally. The XC60 today represents around 30 per cent of Volvo’s total global sales.
“We have a strong heritage in designing stylish and dynamic SUVs that offer the latest in technology. The new XC60 will be no exception. Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has announced that the new XC60 SUV – which will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show – will feature three new advanced driver assistance features aimed at keeping the driver out of trouble.

Der Standardsprint von 0 auf 100 km/h dauert 5,2 Sekunden, die Höchstgeschwindigkeit wird bei 250 km/h elektronisch abgeregelt. Der bärenstarke 2,5-Liter-Fünfzylinder-Turbo verbraucht im Durchschnitt nur 8,8 Liter Kraftstoff pro 100 Kilometer (206 Gramm CO2 pro Kilometer. Sein Basispreis: 54.600 Euro. In jedem Detail des RS Q3 überzeugt die sportliche RS-Philosophie, die damit eine neue Klasse im SUV-Segment begründet. Mit dem 2.5 TFSI arbeitet ein mehrfach preisgekrönter Hochleistungsmotor unter der Haube des RS Q3. Und das war bei ersten Testfahrten innerhalb der Audi Alpen Tour einfach nur beeindruckend - egal ob nun auf kurviger Landstraße, Autobahn oder Passstraße. Egal, ob im Cruiser Tempo oder bei sehr flottem Fortkommen, was man übrigens wirklich nicht an der Tankstelle bereuen muss. Der Normverbrauch ist zwar wie üblich, Theorie, doch Effizienz-Technologien wie ein serienmäßiges Start-Stop-System und eine geregelte Ölpumpe tragen dazu bei, dass man auf jeden Fall unter zehn Liter auf 100 Kilometer bleiben sollte. Effektiv -das serienmäßige Fahrdynamiksystem Audi drive select, das drei wirklich unterschiedliche Betriebsmodi bietet. Als Kraftübertragung dient eine kompakte Siebengang S tronic. Der Fahrer kann das Doppelkupplungsgetriebe in den Programmen D und S automatisiert arbeiten lassen oder die Gänge selbst wechseln - mit den Wippen am Lenkrad oder mit dem RS-spezifischen Wählhebel. Die hydraulisch betätigte und elektronisch geregelte Lamellenkupplung bildet das Herzstück des permanenten Allradantriebs quattro. Im regulären Fahrbetrieb leitet sie die Antriebsmomente zum größten Teil an die vordere Achse, bei Bedarf kann sie sie blitzschnell teilweise oder ganz nach hinten schicken.
