The Invisible Edge campaign is based on a new survey that found clear eyesight tops the list of attributes that help nearly three in four “everyday” athletes perform at their best.

See America, Allergan’s initiative to fight against preventable blindness in the United States, today unveiled a powerful video featuring award-winning actor and hip-hop artist Common, that urges Americans to “stand in the way of darkness”.
The video harnesses Common’s striking spoken word ability, calling on Americans to fight against vision loss and prioritize their vision. Common highlights the 61 million Americans at-risk of severe vision loss, and challenges us all to imagine a life without sight.
“I'm proud to join Allergan in the fight against preventable blindness,” said Common. “Sight is something that far too many of us take for granted. I hope our message resonates with people across the country, no matter what age or background.”

SEE International, a nonprofit dedicated to providing essential vision care worldwide, is proud to announce the release of a new short film. Entitled “A Mother’s Wish,” the 7-minute documentary tells the emotional story of Nacor, a 7-year old boy living in a tiny village in Peru. Born with cataracts in both eyes, Nacor was already legally blind. If he did not receive treatment soon, he might never see again.
Carmen, the boy’s mother, desperately wished for her sons to see again, but could not afford the vision care that they needed. Thankfully, Carmen heard that SEE would be holding a free clinic in the nearby city of Tarapoto, in July 2017. Thanks to the incredible hard work of the traveling and in-country volunteer surgeons, Nacor received the cataract surgeries that he badly needed. Now he can see normally, participate in school, and play with his friends. He has a bright future ahead of him.

Global safety equipment manufacturer MSA Safety Incorporated (NYSE: MSA) today announced that its breakthrough G1 Integrated Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC), which gives fire departments the opportunity to cost-effectively equip every firefighter with thermal imaging technology, has received third party certification as compliant to the 2013 Edition of the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) 1981 performance standards. Imagine finding the most qualified candidate for a job, but that person is blind. Or perhaps a long-term employee experiences vision loss as a result of an accident. What would an employer need to do to accommodate that person? Is the employee able to keep the job?
Serving as a national model for how technology can create job opportunities and accessible workplaces for people without vision, Indianapolis-based nonprofit Bosma Enterprises is one of the first organizations in the U.S. to use BlindSquare, an innovative wayfinding technology. Bosma is using BlindSquare to help clients and employees better navigate its new, state-of-the-art headquarters, which opened June 2, and is representative of the nonprofit’s mission to assist people who are blind or visually impaired gain the life skills they need to remain independent, and the job skills they need to stay self-sufficient.
