Bees are responsible for one in every three bites of food we eat, but their populations are in decline, threatening the food supply as we know it today. According to a recent survey conducted by Cascadian Farm, more than 60 percent of Americans are unfamiliar with colony loss, the phenomenon characterized by honey bees abandoning their hives, never to return. Beyond honey bees, one-third of America’s native bumble bee species are now at risk of extinction. Today, Cascadian Farm—in partnership with The Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation and the University of Minnesota Bee Lab—announced its ‘Bee Friendlier’ program to increase awareness of these critical issues and encourage simple actions to help bees thrive.

Chase Card Services, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. [NYSE: JPM], today announced the launch of the new Chase Ultimate RewardsSM website developed to meet the changing needs of Chase cardholders and deliver a more personalized experience. According to a recent survey Chase conducted in partnership with Mercator Advisory Group, 35 percent of consumers surveyed ranked an attractive rewards program ahead of other factors like interest rates and credit line when selecting which credit card to use most. Additionally, the survey found that 55 percent of consumers surveyed said that, as a rule, they try to use a credit card with rewards that are relevant to them.

During Teen Driver Safety Week, high school students, staff and community members are encouraged to visit celebratemydrive.com once daily between 12 a.m. CT on October 15, 2014 through 11:59 p.m. CT on October 24, 2014 and commit to safe driving. As part of this program, high-volume LifeStraw® Community water purifiers have been distributed to provide more than 23 million liters of safe water a year to over 125,000 school children throughout Kenya’s western province.
The distribution is made possible through the LifeStraw® Follow the Liters program which harnesses the collective power of individuals to help solve one of the world’s most pressing issues – lack of access to safe drinking water for people in developing countries. McGruff the Crime Dog is about to “Take A Bite Out Of Crime,” specifically financial and investment fraud. Researchers estimate that consumer financial fraud cost Americans over $50 billion a year. In addition, a survey by the FINRA Investor Education Foundation of U.S. adults age 40 and older found that more than 80 percent of respondents have been solicited to participate in a potentially fraudulent scheme, and over 40 percent of those surveyed could not identify classic red flags of fraud.

Janssen-Cilag International NV (Janssen) announced today that the European Commission has approved IMBRUVICA™ (ibrutinib) capsules, a first-in-class, once-daily, oral Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor. This new approach to treating blood cancers works by blocking BTK, a protein that helps certain cancer cells live and grow.1 IMBRUVICA is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with relapsed or refractory mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), or adult patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) who have received at least one prior therapy, or in first line in the presence of 17p deletion or TP53 mutation in patients unsuitable for chemo-immunotherapy.

Silence speaks volumes. A new survey reveals that young men and women continue to grapple with various forms of dating abuse including emotional, sexual, physical and digital abuse. Seventy three percent reported they are experiencing or have experienced emotional abuse while more than half of all respondents waited six months before seeking help. In partnership with loveisrespect, the 2014 Mary Kay Truth About Abuse Survey aimed to understand how long teens and young adults wait before they reach out for help and gauge what type of abuse is most prevalent among those who seek help.
